Chameleon - Optical Signal Regenerator with Multi-rate (10Gb/s) Tunable Transmitter

The Chameleon chassis combines a full C-Band tunable transmitter, PIN receiver, EDFA, dual VOAs, and a dispersion compensation module to provide an extremely flexible optical signal regenerator. This 19 inch rackmount (or bench top) chassis operates from 9.95 Gb/s to 11.3 Gb/s and a jitter attenuation circuit is used to minimize jitter on the clock recovered from the received optical signal. The operator is able to control the chassis and monitor status using an HTML browser connected via a 10BaseT (10 Mb/s) Ethernet interface. Each of the major optical components can be individually controlled by the operator which allows manual adjustment of the data rate, wavelength, EDFA pump bias current, dispersion compensation, and both VOAs. The operator receives status such as the optical output power, received optical input power, board temperature, and a general chassis state of health.
